Environmental Policy
Summit Cycles is a retailer of bicycles and associated equipment. Bicycle service and repair work is also carried out on the premises. Although small, the main environmental impacts of the company are considered to be energy use, disposal of packaging materials, waste oils and fluids, and used cycle components. The company is committed to operating all stores in accordance with company environmental policies and all applicable laws and regulations and will specifically:
- Reduce waste output to a minimum, by recycling all applicable packaging and waste materials.
- Provide bags with purchases only when specifically requested. Ensure that any bags or packaging provided to customers is biodegradable.
- Prevent the release of substances used within the workshop that may cause environmental harm to the air, water or land.
- Train and encourage our employees to conduct their work in an environmentally responsible manner.
- Conserve natural resources through careful planning and efficient use.
- Handle and dispose of wastes through safe, environmentally responsible methods.
- Conserve energy by improving the efficiency of its use in our operations.
- Conduct regular environmental assessments at our facilities, make recommendations for continual environmental improvement and take action as appropriate.
- Encourage employees to cycle to work, or car share where possible.
- Encourage our business partners to strive for the same high levels of environmental performance.
- Review the impact on the environment during company planning and decision making.
- Comply with all relevant environmental legislation.
