Have your own cycle helmet?

Do you have your own cycle helmet that is a good fit and suitable for riding off road? If so, we would strongly advise that you bring it with you to use. Beics Brenin can provide a loan helmet with any bike hired if the rider is without a suitable helmet of their own. However, as with shoes, a helmet’s fit and comfort is a very personal thing. Our loan helmets, while being perfectly functional in terms of safety, fit and suitability, are chosen to fit a wider range of users and so are unlikely to offer the same level of personal comfort than one selected to individual need and preference may do. If you don’t already own a quality helmet or could use an upgrade, our shop offers a range of good quality options that you may wish to consider.

BEFORE BOOKING (2): VERY IMPORTANT You will need to know the exact height of each person hiring as this is how we calculate correct bike sizing. WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO REFUSE HIRE WITHOUT REFUND ON ANY BIKE WHERE SIZE HAS BEEN SUPPLIED INCORRECTLY. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU SELECT THE RIGHT HEIGHT CATEGORY AND BIKE TYPE AS OFTEN NO ALTERNATIVE WILL BE AVAILABLE ON THE DAY.

EBIKE HIRE – IMPORTANT :

> Ebikes may not be ridden by anyone below the age of 14 years old under UK law.

> Ebikes – Maximum weight – There is a manufacturer specified maximum weight limit for our ebikes that must be adhered to. The maximum weight of rider including their riding gear must not exceed 17.5 stone/110kg. Please do not hire if you are likely to exceed the maximum permitted weight for use. Use in excess of this maximum is not permitted and will void any warrant or waivers.   

> Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Under the terms of our hire agreement, accident and/or crash damage is chargeable to the hirer. We offer an optional damage waiver, which covers the cost of equipment repair as a result of accident and crash damage during the hire period. If you choose not to purchase the waiver then you will be held responsible for the cost of any damage that may occur to the bike whilst it is in your possession. Please note that the waiver specifically does not cover:

• Deliberate or reckless abuse.
• Theft of the bike.
• Incorrect adjustment of the bike by the hirer.

Beics Brenin reserves the right to terminate the hire agreement and take possession of hire bikes, without refund if, in the opinion of company staff, the bikes are being used in a reckless manner or being wilfully abused.

Loan helmets are available and included in the bike hire price but for reasons of personal comfort we strongly advise those who own their own, good quality, well-fitting helmet to bring and use it. A suitable helmet MUST be worn at all times when riding our hire bikes.

Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

We require photo ID (driving license or passport) to be left with us for the duration of the hire period.

Rental period is from 09.00 until 16.00. Bikes returned late will be subject to a late return fee of £25.00 per 1/4 hour.

A 3 hour rental constitutes any 3 hour period of your choosing and will commence from when you collected the bikes.

Our bikes are for use in Coed Y Brenin forest only, for trail and XC use. Bikes may not be removed from the forest park.  Bikes may not be used for competitive racing, shuttle access downhill riding or any other type of organised event.

We do not permit the fitting of child seats, child trailers or ‘tag-along’ style children’s trailer bikes to any of our hire bikes. These items are not suited to use on many of the trails at Coed y Brenin.  The fitting of stabilisers to our children’s hire bikes is also prohibited.

All hardtail bikes come supplied with flat pedals. Full suspension bikes are supplied with flat pedals, or we can supply and fit Shimano SPD clipless pedals at a small rental charge. If you would like to use your own pedals, please let us know at the time of booking and bring them along. No extra charge will be incurred, but they must only be fitted by our staff.
