The Fox Antifreeze is a non-competitive staggered-start chip-timed MTB endurance lap challenge that takes place early each year at Coed y Brenin Forest Park.
We are again proud to partner with the Fox Antifreeze event for 2025. The event first took place in 2015 so this year's event will mark a decade of us welcoming riders to the event that is open to MTB and EMTB riders and offers a great way to get your MTB year off to a flying start.
A fun way to start your riding year...
The event is a relaxed, sociable and fun way to ease into the better part of the riding year. The staggered start takes away the stress of a mass line start but also spreads the riders, allowing them to make the most of Coed y Brenin's fine singletrack with less bottlenecks.
Choose your challenge
Riders can choose a level of challenge that suits them, riding either 1, 2 or 3 laps of the (aprox) 12.5km course. You don't need to decide beforehand what distance you will ride, you simply ride the number of laps you wish and the chip timing system will allocate your time to the appropriate event.
Coed y Brenin
Coed y Brenin provides the perfect venue for the event, with miles of singletrack trails to enjoy. We have been in the news a lot this year as Natural Resources Wales plan to close the visitor centre here on 31st March 2025. Luckily this means we will have all facilities open, including the cafe and visitor centre, for the event. However, this could make the Fox Antifreeze possibly the last opportunities to enjoy an event at the centre as it has been for many years, with all facilities open ahead of the visitor centre closeure at the end of March.
Natural Resources Wales have confirmed that the car park and trails will remain open here beyond March, and we can confirm that Beics Brenin will still be here and will continue to offer a trailhead bike shop and bike hire at the site so there remains plenty of good reasons to visit.
Still, the loss of the visitor centre is a great disappointment to many and our cycle, walking and running communities are hopeful that NRW will move swiftly to find new provision for the site.

Event sponsors Fox will be on hand showing their latest MTB kit and offering demos of their range of Union shoes. Fox have been the long time title supported the event that has run since 2015.

We are event partners and will be there to help provide a warm welcome from our trailhead store right next to the event start/lap/finish area at the Coed y Brenin Antifreeze. We will again be running our Antifreeze sale promotion to coincide with the event weekend, so you can expect some great bargains on Fox gear if you plan on being there.
