It feels like the winter has been very long and very damp but spring has arrived and we are seeing more dry days with the sun even showing its face at times.
This March, Coed y Brenin hosted another Fox Antifreeze event. The event was well attended with tickets selling out and hundreds of riders coming to venture out onto the trails of Coed y Brenin to enjoy an early season trail challenge.
Spring has now arrived in the forest and with the Easter holidays just around the corner we are busy preparing for better weather and more visitors. The Easter half term brings a rush of visitors to the forest, looking to get some quality time outdoors. It’s a great opportunity for families to spread their wings after a winter of hibernation, offering fresh air, exercise and to enjoy the restorative effects of being outdoors in beautiful natural surroundings.
Our hire centre can get busy very quickly so if you are thinking of coming to hire a bike it is always advisable to book. Booking is very simple and quick via our website and we have a range of bikes that goes from tiny balance bikes right up to the very latest pedal assist electric mountain bikes.
On 4th of May we are holding a Fox Sample Sale. This is an event we have run for a number of years where our friends from Fox bring us a van load of sales samples. These items are usually bang up to date kit, current season (or sometimes even pre-release) and we sell them at crazy discounts from RRP. Usually around 50% but in some cases can be up to 70% off RRP.
The event has been well attended so our advice is to turn up early if you are hoping to bag a bargain.
2024 is our year of cycle adventure. We have our sights set on helping you find new adventures by bike. We will be exploring familiar favourites from the trail map in new ways and also looking beyond the trail map to find new adventure. We will be sharing some useful local knowledge to help you discover new routes and adventures at Coed y Brenin. Our team have also been busy doing some reconnaissance missions for this years The Beast Unchained event (September 28th/29th) so you can expect an event route that steps away from the familiar and offer plenty of adventure.
With no Jr Antifreeze event this year we are looking forward to something new for our young riders happening early summer. In June, we will be holding a weekend of activities aimed at encouraging young riders and families. There will be training opportunities, advice and help and special ride challenge. We will be delivering the event with the help of our training partners Pedal MTB.
Take on some big rides this year. Coed y Brenin now has free ebike charging available at the visitor centre so you can plan for longer days and more trails with a nice recharge and café stop in the middle.
The new Traws Eryri route rolls right past our front door at Coed y Brenin. This new challenge route was created via a partnership between Cycling uk and Natural Resources Wales.
